Kerala's government has set a target of 7% economic growth and is calling for greater private investment to generate new jobs, said senior official KM Chandrasekhar.

Kerala's economic strategy for the current fiscal year centers on achieving a 7% growth rate, a figure that officials say is essential to address the state's unemployment challenge. In a recent statement, senior economist KM Chandrasekhar emphasized that without a substantial inflow of private capital, the growth target may remain out of reach.

The state administration plans to attract investment by streamlining approval processes, offering fiscal incentives, and promoting sectors such as tourism, information technology, and renewable energy. Chandrasekhar noted that these measures are expected to create thousands of jobs across both urban and rural areas.

Analysts caution that achieving 7% growth will require coordinated efforts between the government, businesses, and local communities. They also point out that national economic trends and global market conditions could influence Kerala's performance.

The government has scheduled a series of investor outreach events in the coming weeks, aiming to showcase Kerala's skilled workforce and infrastructure readiness. Success in these initiatives could set a benchmark for other Indian states grappling with similar employment concerns.
