The Karnataka administration announced a comprehensive revamp of the state's RTC framework, aiming to provide clearer and more secure land ownership records for citizens.

The state cabinet approved a set of reforms to the Revenue Transfer Certificate (RTC) process, a key component of Karnataka's land‑record system. The changes are intended to streamline the issuance and verification of land titles, reducing delays that have long plagued property owners and developers.

Under the new guidelines, digital integration will be expanded, allowing applicants to submit documents online and track the status of their RTCs through a unified portal. Officials said the move will cut processing time from weeks to a few days and minimise opportunities for fraud.

The government also pledged to conduct a statewide audit of existing RTCs to resolve discrepancies and ensure that ownership records reflect current realities. Stakeholders, including farmer groups and real‑estate associations, welcomed the initiative, noting that clearer titles could boost investment and reduce litigation.

The Department of Revenue will oversee implementation, with training programmes for clerks and a public awareness campaign scheduled for the coming months.
