The Karnataka administration has integrated the Right to Information (RTI) filing process into its Sakala service platform, aiming to streamline public access to information.
The state of Karnataka has announced that filing Right to Information (RTI) applications will now be possible through its Sakala service portal, a platform traditionally used for speedy delivery of various citizen services. The decision, disclosed in an official press release, seeks to digitise the RTI process, allowing applicants to submit requests online and track their status in real time.
By embedding RTI within Sakala, the government aims to cut down on paperwork, reduce processing delays and improve transparency. Officials noted that the integration will leverage the existing infrastructure of the Sakala system, which already handles thousands of applications for certificates, permits and other public services each month.
The move is part of Karnataka's broader push to enhance e‑governance and make public services more accessible. Citizens are advised to visit the Sakala portal or the dedicated mobile app to lodge RTI requests, with guidance on required documents and fee structures provided on the site.
