Chief Minister E.S. Shivakumar appealed to people living along Karnataka's coast to launch enterprises in their native towns, emphasizing local job creation and economic self‑reliance.

Karnataka Chief Minister E.S. Shivakumar addressed a gathering of coastal community leaders, urging them to invest in and start businesses within their own districts. He highlighted that local entrepreneurship can curb migration to metropolitan hubs and generate sustainable employment for youth.

Shivakumar pointed to existing government schemes that provide financial assistance, skill training, and market linkages for small and medium enterprises. He urged beneficiaries to leverage these resources rather than seeking opportunities elsewhere.

The chief minister also warned that unchecked out‑migration erodes the social fabric of coastal towns, and that home‑grown enterprises can preserve cultural identity while boosting the state's overall economic health.
