Karnataka agriculture department offers incentives to boost Nanjangud Rasbale banana cultivation
The state’s agriculture department announced special incentives to expand the cultivation and market reach of the GI‑tagged Nanjangud Rasbale banana.
The agriculture department of Karnataka announced a special incentive scheme aimed at increasing the cultivation of the GI‑tagged Nanjangud Rasbale banana, a renowned variety from Nanjangud in Mysore district.
The scheme provides financial subsidies, technical assistance and market promotion to encourage farmers to expand the area under cultivation.
Officials said the initiative is intended to revive the traditional crop, improve farmer incomes and tap into growing demand for the variety.
The GI tag, granted for the banana’s unique flavor and quality, has created a niche market, and the new incentives aim to broaden that market both nationally and internationally.
The department will monitor adoption of the scheme and expects a rise in production in the coming seasons.
