At the Bankers' Conclave 2.0 in Agar, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia detailed a plan to open new branches and boost digital services across the Northeast.

At the Bankers' Conclave 2.0 held in Agar, Madhya Pradesh, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia unveiled a set of initiatives aimed at strengthening banking presence in India's Northeast region.

Scindia said the plan includes opening new branches, expanding digital banking services, and partnering with regional financial institutions to improve credit flow to small and medium enterprises.

He emphasized that the Northeast, with its growing population and emerging markets, has been under‑served by formal banking, and the proposed expansion is expected to boost financial inclusion and economic development.

The minister also announced that a task force will be set up to monitor implementation and that the central bank will be consulted to ensure regulatory compliance.
