Rajasthan police confiscated a Bolero pickup near Mogda Pulia in Jodhpur and arrested driver Kishanaram after discovering a stash of chemicals suspected to be intended for discharge into the Jojri River.

Police in Jodhpur acted on a tip-off and stopped a Bolero pickup near the Mogda Pulia bridge on the outskirts of the city. The vehicle was seized and its driver, identified as Kishanaram, was taken into custody.

During the inspection officers uncovered a concealed container filled with industrial-grade chemicals. While the exact composition was not disclosed, authorities suspect the substances were being transported for illegal discharge into the Jojri River, a waterway that supplies irrigation water to surrounding agricultural lands.

Senior police officials said the arrest was made to prevent potential environmental damage and that the case will be investigated under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974. The driver faces charges of attempted pollution and illegal handling of hazardous materials.

The incident highlights growing concerns over illicit dumping of pollutants in Rajasthan’s rivers, prompting state agencies to increase monitoring of transport routes near vulnerable water bodies.
