Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said the India‑Luxembourg relationship will expand as the EU free trade agreement with India moves forward.
Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar told reporters that the growing partnership between India and Luxembourg is set to deepen as the European Union finalises a free trade agreement that includes Luxembourg. He pointed out that the EU‑India FTA, once ratified, will grant Indian exporters tariff‑free access to Luxembourg’s market and create investment avenues for Luxembourgish firms in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, IT and renewable energy. Jaishankar added that strengthening ties with Luxembourg fits India’s broader strategy to enhance economic engagement with the EU and urged both sides to accelerate the remaining negotiations. The remarks were made during a press briefing in New Delhi, where the minister reiterated that trade liberalisation remains a cornerstone of India’s foreign policy.
