The Central Security Team (CST) arrested Shahbaz Khan in the Bhattabasti area of Jaipur and recovered counterfeit currency worth ₹3.45 lakh just days before Diwali.
Jaipur police, acting through the Central Security Team, intercepted a batch of counterfeit banknotes valued at approximately ₹3.45 lakh in the Bhattabasti locality. The seizure took place in the days leading up to the Diwali festival, a period when cash transactions typically surge.
Investigators identified Shahbaz Khan as the individual attempting to introduce the forged notes into the market. He was taken into custody at the scene, and the seized currency was handed over to forensic officials for verification.
The police have launched a broader inquiry into the network that supplied the fake notes, aiming to prevent further circulation during the festive season. Officials emphasized that such operations threaten public confidence and can lead to financial losses for ordinary citizens.
Authorities warned that they will continue to monitor counterfeit activities closely, especially as Diwali approaches, and urged the public to report any suspicious currency.
