The Indore consumer forum has lodged a memorandum with the RTO, accusing authorities of ignoring passenger groups while raising bus fares, and has listed five key demands including fare reduction and better onboard facilities.
Indore’s consumer board has formally complained to the Regional Transport Office (RTO), saying that passenger representatives were left out of the recent decision to hike bus fares. The memorandum, submitted on behalf of daily commuters, alleges that the fare revision process lacked transparency and ignored the concerns of regular users.
The board outlined five primary demands: a rollback of the fare increase, provision of drinking water and functional toilets on buses, installation of digital display boards for route information, stricter enforcement against over‑loading, and greater transparency in fare calculations.
Local transport operators have been urged to prioritize passenger comfort before any further fare adjustments. The consumer forum warned that failure to address these issues could lead to organized protests and legal action.
The RTO has not yet issued a response, but officials are expected to review the memorandum in the coming days, given the growing public pressure and the potential impact on daily commuters across the city.
