Several popular Indian films, including Piku, Sumo Didi and Highway, have been praised for shooting on real locations rather than studio sets, offering audiences a more authentic experience.
Indian filmmakers are increasingly opting for real locations to enhance storytelling.
The 2015 film Piku, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan, was shot across various parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, capturing the rural charm of the region.
Similarly, the 2021 comedy Sumo Didi and the 2014 thriller Highway took advantage of authentic settings, from the bustling streets of Delhi to the serene backwaters of Kerala, to ground their narratives.
These films are now available on popular streaming platforms, allowing viewers to experience the on‑site ambience from the comfort of their homes.
