Cricinfo reports that the Indian cricket side will embark on a tour of Japan, marking a rare bilateral series between the two nations.
The International Cricket Council's official portal Cricinfo has confirmed that the Indian men's cricket team will travel to Japan for a bilateral series. This tour represents one of the few occasions where India will play official matches on Japanese soil, underscoring the growing interest in cricket across East Asia.
Organisers from both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Japan Cricket Association have highlighted the tour as an opportunity to strengthen sporting ties and promote the game among new audiences. While detailed fixtures have not yet been released, the announcement signals a collaborative effort to expand cricket's footprint beyond its traditional strongholds.
Stakeholders expect the series to generate media attention in both countries, offering Japanese fans a chance to witness top‑level cricket live. The visit also aligns with broader initiatives to develop cricket infrastructure and youth programs in Japan, aiming for a sustainable growth of the sport in the region.
