At a recent United Nations session, India rejected Pakistan’s assertions and reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh remain inseparable components of the nation.
New Delhi’s delegation addressed the United Nations, stating that Pakistan’s recent statements on the status of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were unfounded. The Indian representative emphasized that both regions are constitutionally integral to the Republic of India and that any external commentary contradicts established international agreements.
India’s response referenced the Simla Agreement and United Nations Security Council resolutions that recognise the disputed status while underscoring that the territories are administered as full parts of the Indian Union. The spokesperson warned that attempts to internationalise the issue could destabilise regional peace.
Pakistan, which has repeatedly called for a plebiscite in the two regions, had earlier lodged a formal protest at the UN. New Delhi’s rebuttal signals a firm diplomatic stance ahead of upcoming bilateral talks and underscores the importance India places on sovereign integrity in multilateral forums.
