India’s envoy says bilateral trade with Brazil is set to reach $20 billion, with new cooperation in critical minerals, artificial intelligence and defence sectors.
New data released by India’s diplomatic mission in Brazil indicates that total bilateral trade between the two nations is projected to touch $20 billion in the near term. The figure marks a significant rise from previous years and reflects deepening economic ties across multiple sectors.
The envoy highlighted three priority areas for future collaboration: extraction and processing of critical minerals, development of artificial‑intelligence technologies, and joint defence projects. Both governments have already begun feasibility studies to secure supply chains for minerals such as lithium and rare earths, which are essential for clean‑energy and high‑tech applications.
Industry analysts say the expanded partnership could boost Indian manufacturing while giving Brazilian exporters access to a large market. Ongoing ministerial talks are expected to formalise agreements that will translate the trade outlook into concrete projects on the ground.
