India has extended a $500 million credit facility to Guyana to finance infrastructure development and defence procurement.
India has approved a $500 million credit line for Guyana, aimed at financing a range of infrastructure and defence projects.
The facility will support Guyana’s plans to upgrade roads, ports, energy assets and acquire military equipment, strengthening its development agenda.
The credit will be channelled through the Export‑Import Bank of India on commercial terms, with both governments saying it deepens strategic cooperation.
The agreement reflects India’s broader outreach to Caribbean nations, seeking to expand economic and security ties beyond its immediate neighbourhood.
