The India Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning for Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand for October 12, urging residents to stay alert and take precautions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released an official advisory on October 12, forecasting heavy rainfall across the National Capital Territory of Delhi and the adjoining states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. The alert covers the entire day and highlights the likelihood of intense downpours in urban and rural areas alike.
Meteorologists warned that the expected rain could lead to waterlogging, especially in low‑lying localities and regions prone to flash floods. Authorities have been advised to monitor drainage systems, keep emergency response teams on standby, and issue timely updates to the public.
The IMD’s warning follows a pattern of early‑season monsoon activity that has intensified in recent years. Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel, secure outdoor items, and follow any instructions issued by local civic bodies. Continuous updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
The department also reminded citizens that heavy rain alerts are part of routine weather forecasting and are intended to minimise disruption and safeguard life and property.
