The Himachal government announced steps to streamline the recruitment of postgraduate doctors who have qualified from Chandigarh's PGIMER and AIIMS New Delhi.
The state health administration of Himachal Pradesh said it will facilitate the appointment process for postgraduate medical officers who have completed their training at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh and at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. The move aims to address the shortage of specialist doctors in the state's public hospitals and to ensure that qualified candidates are placed promptly.
Officials indicated that the facilitation will involve fast‑tracking the verification of credentials, coordinating with the respective institutes for documentation, and expediting the issuance of service letters. The government has also directed district health officers to prioritize these candidates in upcoming vacancy lists.
The announcement was made as part of the state's broader effort to strengthen its healthcare workforce and improve service delivery in rural and remote areas. No specific numbers of appointments were disclosed at the time of the statement.
The health department has urged eligible doctors to apply through the official portal and to keep their registration details updated to benefit from the accelerated process.
