A note warning of a hijack was discovered in the toilet of IndiGo flight 6E 451 about half an hour after take‑off, prompting the crew to turn back to Bengaluru for security checks. The threat was later declared a hoax after a thorough search.
IndiGo flight 6E 451, operating from Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru to Lucknow, encountered a security scare when a handwritten note warning of a hijack was found in the aircraft's toilet roughly thirty minutes after departure. Cabin crew immediately informed the pilot, who decided to abort the journey and head back to Bengaluru for a comprehensive security assessment.
Upon landing, airport security agencies, together with airline officials, conducted a systematic sweep of the aircraft, its cargo hold and passenger areas. The investigation lasted about ninety minutes, during which no explosive devices or other contraband were uncovered.
The note was ultimately classified as a hoax, and the flight resumed normal operations after passengers were cleared. IndiGo officials reiterated their commitment to passenger safety and said they would cooperate with law enforcement to trace the source of the false threat.
No injuries or arrests were reported, and the incident did not affect the scheduled services of other flights from the airport.
