The eastern part of Madhya Pradesh experienced a sudden surge of rainfall ahead of the monsoon’s retreat, with the Bajag area receiving 191.8 millimetres in a single day. The deluge caused the Narmada River to rise between six and eight feet, prompting the opening of nine gates at the Bargi Dam to manage the excess water.
