Meteorological agencies forecast heavy rainfall across several southern states and other parts of the country, while Delhi is projected to stay dry in the coming days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather outlook indicating that heavy rain is likely to affect large portions of southern India over the next 48 hours. The forecast, reported by Business Standard, cites a deepening low-pressure system moving westward across the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to bring intense rainfall to the region.

States such as Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are projected to receive the brunt of the downpours, with some districts possibly seeing accumulations exceeding 100 mm. The system is also expected to spread to parts of central and eastern India, including sections of Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

Conversely, the capital city of Delhi is forecast to remain dry, with only isolated showers possible in the outskirts. Authorities have advised residents in the rain‑prone southern states to stay alert, avoid low‑lying areas, and follow any local advisories issued by disaster management teams.

The IMD has warned that the heavy rain could lead to localized flooding, water‑logging and disruption to transport services, urging commuters to plan accordingly and stay updated with real‑time weather bulletins.
