The India Meteorological Department has placed 13 states, including Odisha and Kerala, under a rain alert today, urging residents to stay prepared.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released a weather advisory this morning, putting thirteen states across the country on a rain alert. Among the notified regions, Odisha and Kerala feature prominently due to the expected intensity of showers. The alert covers a broad swath of the subcontinent, signalling heightened chances of moderate to heavy rainfall over the next 24 to 48 hours.
IMD officials cautioned that the notified states could experience localized flooding, waterlogging and reduced visibility on roads. Residents are advised to secure loose objects, avoid non‑essential travel during peak downpours and stay updated with local bulletins. Agricultural areas may see beneficial moisture, but farmers are urged to monitor field conditions to prevent crop damage.
The department also highlighted that the capital region, Delhi‑NCR, is likely to see intermittent showers, though not at the same alert level as the thirteen states. Authorities in the national capital have been asked to keep emergency services on standby and to disseminate timely warnings through media channels.
