Over 3.7 lakh residents of Haryana have applied to register as voters under the State Information Report (SIR) scheme, signalling a significant rise in electoral participation ahead of upcoming elections.
The State Information Report (SIR) has recorded more than 3.7 lakh new voter registration applications in Haryana, surpassing previous records and reflecting heightened interest in the electoral process.
Applications were submitted across the state's 22 districts, with the highest concentration in urban centers such as Gurugram and Faridabad. Election officials report that the registration drive has been facilitated by digital kiosks and mobile units.
The rise in registrations comes as Haryana prepares for the 2024 assembly elections, where voter turnout is expected to be crucial. Political parties are already mobilizing resources to engage the newly registered electorate.
Election authorities have assured that all applications will be processed within the statutory deadline, and that the updated voter rolls will be published in time for the upcoming polls.
