Fuel stations across Haryana’s National Capital Region will stop dispensing petrol or diesel to any vehicle that cannot produce a current Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate, officials said.
The Haryana government has issued a directive that all petrol pumps operating in the National Capital Region will deny fuel to vehicles lacking a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate. The order, circulated to fuel retailers on Monday, mandates that attendants check the PUC document before authorising any dispensing of petrol or diesel.
Authorities say the move is aimed at tightening emission norms and curbing air‑pollution levels that have repeatedly breached safe limits in the NCR. Under the new rule, drivers who are unable to present a current PUC will be asked to obtain one from an authorized testing centre before refuelling.
The enforcement will be monitored by the state’s transport department, which will conduct surprise inspections of fuel stations to ensure compliance. Non‑compliant pumps could face penalties, while repeat offenders may risk suspension of their licences.
