This year’s Durga Puja in Guwahati features pandals that portray a range of themes, from the mythical realm of Naglok to the sacred pilgrimage site of Kedarnath.
Guwahati, Assam, has begun its annual Durga Puja celebrations with a distinctive artistic direction. This year’s pandals are deliberately designed around contrasting motifs, drawing inspiration from the legendary underground kingdom of Naglok as well as the revered Himalayan shrine of Kedarnath.
The Naglok-themed installations evoke the serpentine deities and subterranean folklore that feature in regional myths, while the Kedarnath displays recreate the snow‑capped peaks and pilgrimage ambience associated with the sacred temple.
Organisers say the dual focus aims to blend mythic imagination with spiritual pilgrimage, offering devotees and visitors a varied visual experience. The thematic diversity has attracted crowds eager to explore the cultural narratives presented across the city’s festive grounds.
