The Gujarat government announced a Bet Dwarka Corridor project that will feature an underwater viewing platform and a towering 108‑foot statue of Lord Krishna to boost religious tourism.

Gujarat's tourism department disclosed plans for a new Bet Dwarka Corridor aimed at transforming the historic island into a premier pilgrimage destination. The proposal includes constructing an underwater darshan facility that will allow visitors to view the surrounding marine environment and the island's ancient temples from beneath the water's surface.

A centerpiece of the project is a 108‑foot tall statue of Lord Krishna, which will be installed on the waterfront, providing a striking visual landmark for devotees and tourists alike. Officials said the statue will be made of bronze and designed to withstand coastal weather conditions.

The corridor will also integrate improved road connectivity, visitor amenities, and heritage conservation measures to preserve Bet Dwarka's cultural significance. The initiative is part of Gujarat's broader effort to promote religious tourism and generate economic benefits for local communities.

Construction is slated to begin later this year, with the government seeking approvals from environmental and heritage authorities before full-scale work commences.
