The Gujarat state administration announced a 3% increase in Dearth Allowance for its salaried staff and pensioners, timed to coincide with the upcoming Diwali festivities.

Gujarat’s finance department issued an order on Tuesday that the Dearness Allowance (DA) for all state government employees and pensioners will be raised by three percent. The adjustment is slated to take effect from the beginning of the Diwali holiday period, providing a modest boost to take‑home pay during the festive season.

The decision aligns with the state’s routine bi‑annual DA revision, which is typically linked to inflation trends and consumer price movements. Officials said the 3% hike reflects the latest cost‑of‑living data and aims to ease the financial pressure on government workers and retirees.

The announcement was made public through a press release on the Gujarat government’s official website, and departmental heads have been instructed to implement the revised rates in the next payroll cycle. No additional allowances or policy changes were mentioned alongside the DA increase.

Stakeholders, including employee unions, have welcomed the move, noting that the timing ahead of Diwali will help families manage higher seasonal expenses. The state government has not indicated any further revisions for the current fiscal year.
