A clash between suspected NSCN-IM insurgents and ZUF-J cadres in Noney district of Manipur left three people dead.
The Noney district of Manipur witnessed a violent encounter between suspected cadres of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah) and members of the Zomi United Front-J. The gunfight broke out in the early hours of the day, resulting in three fatalities.
Security sources said the confrontation involved armed groups from both sides, each reportedly carrying automatic weapons. All three dead were identified as combatants, though their exact affiliations have not been officially confirmed.
Manipur police and the state’s home department have launched an investigation, securing the area and collecting forensic evidence. No civilian casualties were reported, and a curfew has been imposed in parts of the district to prevent further escalation.
The incident adds to a series of insurgent‑related clashes in the northeastern region, where both NSCN-IM and ZUF-J have been active in separate ethnic and territorial disputes.
