Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited has elected Sanjay Joshi as an independent director through a postal ballot of shareholders.
Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL), a major player in the country's chemical sector, announced that Sanjay Joshi has been appointed as an independent director on its board. The selection was made through a postal ballot conducted among the company’s shareholders, in compliance with SEBI regulations governing board composition.
The postal ballot, which closed on the prescribed date, recorded a majority vote in favor of Joshi’s candidature. The company’s board will now benefit from his experience in corporate governance and strategic oversight, as required for independent directors under the Companies Act.
GACL’s statement highlighted that the appointment aims to strengthen the board’s independence and enhance oversight of risk management and compliance functions. The new director will assume his duties from the next board meeting, the date of which will be communicated to shareholders.
The move comes as the chemical industry in Gujarat continues to expand, and GACL is positioning itself to meet growing domestic and export demand while adhering to higher standards of corporate governance.
