The Chief Electoral Officer of Goa clarified that the 97 voters flagged during the Special Intensive Revision have been located and many have been added to the electoral roll after door‑to‑door verification.
Panaji, Goa – The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Goa addressed concerns after 97 names were temporarily omitted from the state's electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The omission arose from data mismatches identified by the ECINet software, prompting a review of the affected entries.
Following the initial report, the CEO's team conducted door‑to‑door visits in the concerned localities. The field verification confirmed the eligibility of many of the listed individuals, and they have now been entered into the rolls, ensuring that no eligible voter is left out.
Opposition parties have seized on the episode to question the reliability of the Election Commission's centralized registration system, but the CEO emphasized that the corrective action demonstrates the robustness of the verification process.
The Election Commission of India has reiterated that such intensive revisions are routine and aim to maintain an up‑to‑date voter database ahead of upcoming elections.
The CEO assured that any remaining discrepancies will be resolved promptly, and all eligible citizens will be able to exercise their franchise.
