Facing reduced footfall due to online shopping, Gandhi Nagar Market in Delhi has introduced the Vastrika initiative to revive physical sales.

Delhi's Gandhi Nagar Market reported a noticeable dip in activity as shoppers increasingly turn to online platforms for their purchases. Market traders and management observed fewer visitors, prompting concerns about the viability of traditional retail in the area.

In response, the market authorities launched a new programme called "Vastrika" aimed at revitalising foot traffic and supporting local vendors. The initiative is designed to encourage shoppers to return to the market by offering incentives and promoting the advantages of buying directly from stalls.

Officials said the scheme will be rolled out over the coming weeks, with promotional activities planned to highlight the variety and affordability of goods available at Gandhi Nagar. The move reflects a broader effort by Delhi's wholesale markets to adapt to changing consumer behaviour while preserving the livelihood of small traders.
