Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said a new expressway linking Delhi and Haridwar will be built soon, promising a 90‑minute travel time between the two cities.

New Delhi – Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced that a high‑speed expressway connecting Delhi with Haridwar is slated for construction in the near future. The project aims to reduce the current travel time of several hours to just ninety minutes, offering a faster corridor for tourists and pilgrims heading to the holy city of Haridwar.

Gadkari highlighted that the expressway will be built to modern standards, featuring multiple lanes, controlled access and advanced safety features. While detailed alignment and financing plans were not disclosed, the minister emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader push to improve inter‑city connectivity across the region.

The announcement comes as demand for quicker travel between the national capital and the pilgrimage hub has grown, especially during peak religious seasons. Officials expect the reduced travel time to boost tourism, facilitate trade, and provide a more convenient option for commuters.

Further details, including the expected timeline for land acquisition, tendering and commencement of construction, are expected to be released by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in the coming weeks.
