Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh began a 950‑kilometre foot march from Ujjain on October 20, demanding greater transparency and accountability over alleged vote and donation theft. His wife will accompany him throughout the journey.

On October 20, former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh set out from Ujjain on a foot march he has named the Satya Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra. The journey, spanning roughly 950 kilometres, is intended to highlight concerns over alleged vote‑rigging and the misuse of charitable donations, calling for stricter transparency and accountability in the political process.

Singh, accompanied by his wife, plans to walk from the Mahakaleshwar region of Ujjain to the Ram Janmabhoomi site, tracing a symbolic route that links two important religious landmarks. The itinerary is expected to pass through several districts of Madhya Pradesh before entering Uttar Pradesh, allowing the former leader to engage with local communities along the way.

The yatra comes at a time when opposition parties across the country are intensifying scrutiny of electoral practices ahead of upcoming state elections. While Singh has not announced a specific timetable for concluding the march, he has indicated that the campaign will continue until the demands for clearer electoral and financial oversight are addressed.

Organisers have pledged to maintain a non‑violent, peaceful stance throughout the trek, emphasizing that the purpose is to raise public awareness rather than to provoke confrontation. Local authorities in Ujjain have been briefed about the event and have assured cooperation for the safety of the participants.
