Madhya Pradesh's Food Safety Department confiscated more than seven quintals of illegal analog cheese worth roughly ₹2.5 lakh from a consignment that arrived by train from Muraina.
The Food Safety Department conducted a surprise raid outside Bhopal railway station, seizing a large shipment of prohibited analog cheese. Officials entered the loading area shortly after a train from Muraina arrived and recovered the contraband without any reported resistance.
According to the department, the seized quantity exceeded seven quintals and is valued at approximately ₹2.5 lakh. The cheese, described as an illegal analogue of dairy cheese, had been transported in bulk for distribution during the upcoming festive season.
Analog cheese has been banned across several states due to health concerns and its potential to mislead consumers. The department reiterated that such products violate food safety regulations and will face strict penalties. The seizure underscores ongoing enforcement actions aimed at protecting public health ahead of major celebrations.
