A video circulating online claiming to show a massive gathering at an India Bloc rally has been verified as footage from a previous rally, not the current one.
A clip that has been shared widely on social media as evidence of a huge crowd at a recent India Bloc rally was examined by fact‑checkers. The analysis of visual cues, such as banners, venue layout and weather conditions, indicated that the recording was made at an earlier gathering, not the event it was claimed to represent.
Investigators compared the video with archived footage from previous India Bloc rallies and found identical background elements, confirming the same location and time frame. Metadata from the file also pointed to a creation date that predates the current rally.
The misrepresentation appears to have been spread to amplify the perceived scale of the recent rally. Authorities and the rally organizers have not commented on the circulation of the outdated video.
Fact‑checkers advise viewers to verify the source and date of such videos before sharing, especially when they are used to portray the size of political gatherings.
