The veteran Indian producer says she began working at 17 and once stayed at her office for six months without returning home.
Ekta Kapoor, the veteran television and film producer, opened up about her early days in a recent interview with The Economic Times. She said she entered the media industry when she was just 17, taking up a junior role that marked the beginning of a long‑standing career in Indian entertainment.
Kapoor recalled that the demands of her first job were intense, prompting her to remain at the office for an extended period. She spent six consecutive months without going home, sleeping on a cot in the workplace to meet deadlines and learn the business.
The producer described the experience as a test of perseverance that shaped her work ethic. She believes that the discipline she cultivated during those months laid the foundation for the empire she later built, spanning television serials, digital platforms and films.
While she acknowledges the personal sacrifices involved, Kapoor emphasizes that the early grind taught her the value of resilience and long‑term vision in a highly competitive industry.
