The District Commissioner of East Khasi Hills has announced that house‑to‑house verification of voter lists will commence on 30 June, urging residents to cooperate.
The District Commissioner of East Khasi Hills announced on Thursday that a comprehensive house‑to‑house verification of voter rolls will begin on 30 June. The exercise aims to update the electoral rolls, remove duplicate entries and ensure that every eligible voter is correctly registered.
During the verification, election officials will visit each household, cross‑check voter details with the existing records, and update any discrepancies on the spot. Residents are expected to provide identification and answer a few questions to confirm their eligibility.
The DC urged the public to cooperate fully, emphasizing that accurate voter lists are essential for free and fair elections. He also warned that failure to cooperate could lead to delays in the verification process.
Officials anticipate that the exercise will improve the integrity of the electoral rolls and help prevent electoral malpractices in the district.
