Divine Face of Lord Shiva Crafted with Ash and Sandalwood at Mahakaleshwar Aarti in Ujjain

Ujjain's Mahakaleshwar Temple conducted a special aarti today in which the Shiva lingam was embellished with sacred ash, red sindoor and sandalwood paste. The ritual created a distinct facial representation of Lord Shiva, complete with the iconic third eye, a tilak on the forehead and stylized moustaches. Devotees gathered in large numbers to witness the unique adornment and to receive darshan of the deity. Temple priests explained that the use of ash (bhasma) and sandalwood is traditional, but the addition of a facial outline is a rare visual element intended to enhance the spiritual experience. The event concluded without incident, and worshippers left with a renewed sense of devotion.
