Digital Bharat Nidhi has signed an agreement with the Chhattisgarh government to digitise all gram panchayats and villages in the state, aiming to boost e‑governance at the grassroots level.
New Delhi – Digital Bharat Nidhi, a public‑private initiative focused on digital transformation, entered into a formal agreement with the Chhattisgarh state government to bring comprehensive digitisation to the state's gram panchayats and villages. The memorandum of understanding outlines a phased rollout of hardware, software and training modules designed to enable online delivery of services such as land records, welfare benefits, and local governance data.
Under the pact, the agency will set up digital kiosks, broadband connectivity and cloud‑based platforms across rural clusters, while training local officials and community members to use the new tools. The project is expected to streamline administrative processes, reduce paperwork and improve transparency in the distribution of state schemes.
The agreement was signed in the presence of senior officials from both sides, who emphasized that the initiative aligns with the central government's Digital India vision and the state's commitment to modernising rural administration. Implementation is slated to begin within the next quarter, with periodic reviews to assess progress and impact.
Stakeholders anticipate that the digitisation drive will not only enhance service delivery but also create new skill‑development opportunities for rural youth, fostering greater participation in the digital economy.
