The Directorate General of GST has identified a ₹115 crore shortfall in GST payments from hotels across Andhra Pradesh, revealing widespread tax evasion.

The Directorate General of GST (DGGI) announced that it has uncovered a ₹115 crore GST evasion across hotels in Andhra Pradesh.

The audit, conducted over the past months, revealed that several hospitality establishments had under‑reported turnover and failed to remit the tax due.

DGGI said it will pursue legal action against the non‑compliant hotels and seek recovery of the unpaid tax along with penalties.

The move is part of a broader effort by the central government to curb tax evasion in the hospitality sector.

State officials have welcomed the action, stating that it will help strengthen revenue collection and promote fair competition.
