Meteorological Department warns Delhi and surrounding areas of strong winds, hail and thunderstorms expected on October 14, urging residents to take precautions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for the Delhi‑NCR region on October 14, predicting strong winds, hail and thunderstorms across the metropolitan area. Wind speeds are expected to reach 40–50 km/h, with gusts potentially exceeding 70 km/h in some pockets. Hailstones as large as pea‑sized are anticipated, posing risks to vehicles, roofs and outdoor activities.

The alert, released at 10:30 a.m. IST, advises residents to secure loose objects, avoid outdoor work during peak hours, and keep a close eye on local radio and mobile updates. Power companies have been notified to prepare for possible outages, while traffic authorities are monitoring for potential disruptions.

The IMD also noted that the weather pattern could bring a brief period of heavy rainfall, especially in the northern parts of the NCR, which may lead to localized flooding. Authorities are urging commuters to plan alternative routes and to stay indoors during the predicted storm surge.

This forecast follows a series of severe weather events across northern India, with the Department urging all citizens to heed official warnings and to stay informed through reliable news sources.
