Delhi University has announced stringent measures for the upcoming Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections, including a ban on alcohol in vehicles, deployment of 200 cameras, and 50 fines for violations.
Delhi University has issued a set of new guidelines for the forthcoming Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections, announced on Thursday by the university administration. The rules aim to curb misconduct and ensure a smooth electoral process.
Among the key provisions, any candidate found with alcohol in their vehicle will face automatic cancellation of their nomination. Additionally, the university will deploy 200 cameras across campus to monitor campaign activities and will impose 50 monetary fines for any violations of the election code of conduct.
The administration said the measures are designed to maintain discipline, promote transparency, and safeguard the integrity of the student union elections. Officials highlighted that strict enforcement would deter any form of bribery or intimidation.
While the university officials welcomed the new rules, student leaders have expressed concerns about the practicality of monitoring every vehicle and the potential for overreach. Nevertheless, the university remains firm that the guidelines will help create a fair and safe environment for all candidates.
