Delhi police arrested a cafe owner and an accomplice after a father reported his son was held hostage in the outlet and forced to pay ₹26,000.
Delhi police received a formal complaint from a father who alleged that his son was stopped inside a local café and was asked to pay a sum of ₹26,000 before being allowed to leave. The complaint prompted a swift investigation by the police’s crime branch.
According to the investigation, the young man, who was on a blind date at the café, was detained by the proprietor and two staff members. They allegedly threatened to withhold his exit until the demanded amount was handed over, effectively turning the incident into an extortion case.
Police officers raided the establishment, seized relevant evidence, and arrested the café owner along with an accomplice. Both suspects were taken into custody and are being questioned about the alleged blackmail and any further victims.
The Delhi Police have warned the public against similar scams and advised individuals to report any coercive demand for money immediately. The case is currently under investigation, and further legal action will be decided based on the evidence collected.
