Delhi authorities fined vehicle owners a total of Rs 68.4 lakh and turned back about 1,500 cars as part of a citywide anti‑pollution operation.

Delhi's municipal and traffic police have intensified enforcement under an anti‑pollution drive aimed at curbing vehicular emissions. The operation involved checking vehicles entering the city and ensuring compliance with emission norms.

During the sweep, authorities imposed fines amounting to Rs 68.4 lakh on owners of non‑compliant vehicles. In addition, roughly 1,500 cars were turned back to prevent them from entering high‑pollution zones.

Officials said the measures are intended to improve air quality ahead of the winter season, when Delhi typically records its worst smog levels. The crackdown is part of a broader strategy that includes regular monitoring and stricter penalties for repeat offenders.
