Cyclone Arnab prompted the East Coast Railway to cancel 28 passenger trains and activate its emergency response system across Odisha.
Cyclone Arnab, a cyclonic storm forming in the Bay of Bengal, is forecast to make landfall along Odisha's coastline later this week, leading state authorities to implement precautionary measures.
The East Coast Railway (ECoR) announced the cancellation of 28 scheduled passenger trains operating in the state, affecting routes that connect major hubs such as Bhubaneswar, Puri and Sambalpur.
In response, ECoR activated its Emergency Response System, deploying additional staff, arranging alternative transport options and taking steps to safeguard passengers stranded at stations.
Railway officials have urged commuters to stay updated through official channels and to postpone non‑essential travel until the cyclone weakens and moves away from the region.
