Cyclone Arnab, moving northward from the Arabian Sea, has caused widespread wet weather across Rajasthan, prompting meteorological alerts.
A tropical cyclone named Arnab, originating in the Arabian Sea, has tracked northward and begun affecting Rajasthan with significant rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that several districts experienced intermittent showers and localized downpours as the system approached the state's western border.
IMD officials issued a weather advisory on Monday, warning of possible flash floods in low‑lying areas and advising farmers to protect standing crops. Preliminary measurements indicated rainfall totals ranging from 15 to 30 millimetres in affected districts, with higher accumulations expected in the next 24 hours.
State authorities have activated emergency response teams to monitor water levels in rivers and canals. While no major damage has been reported so far, officials are urging residents to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow safety instructions issued by local administrations.
The cyclone is expected to weaken as it moves inland, but the lingering moisture may continue to bring sporadic showers across the region for the remainder of the week.
