Abhijeet Vanjari of the Indian National Congress has been re‑elected to the Nagpur Graduates seat in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, securing a second term.
Abhijeet Vanjari, representing the Indian National Congress, retained the Nagpur Graduates constituency in the latest Maharashtra Legislative Council elections. The victory marks his second consecutive term, reaffirming his foothold among the graduate electorate of Nagpur.
The Nagpur Graduates seat, one of the specialized constituencies in the council, is reserved for voters holding at least a graduate degree. Vanjari's win reflects continued support for the Congress party in a region where political competition is intense.
Election officials declared the result after counting votes from the graduate voter list across Nagpur district. Vanjari has pledged to focus on education, employment and infrastructure issues that affect the educated demographic he represents.
Political analysts note that retaining this seat helps Congress maintain a presence in Maharashtra's upper house, where the party seeks to influence legislative debates and policy formulation.
