Complaint by Bhim Army Against Devadurga MLA to Assembly Speaker
Devadurga, Sept. 24: In connection with an incident in which Devadurga MLA Karemmma G. Nayak allegedly sat in the official chair of an officer and conducted a Commeeting at the Devadurga GESCOM (Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company) Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) office, the Devadurga Taluk Committee of Bhim Army (Bharat Ekta Mission), led by its president Vishwanath Ballidav, has submitted a complaint against the MLA to the Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
In the complaint, it has been alleged that on September 18, 2026, MLA Karemmma G. Nayak visited the GESCOM office along with more than 20 supporters and sat in the official chair of the AEE while holding a meeting with the officials.
The complaint states that although elected representatives have the right to obtain information from officials and discuss public issues, using the chair of an executive officer raises questions regarding administrative protocol and the constitutional boundaries between the legislature and the executive.
The Bhim Army committee has requested the Assembly Speaker to conduct a factual inquiry into the incident and determine whether any provisions of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the Legislative Assembly were violated. It has also appealed for appropriate guidelines to be issued to prevent such incidents from recurring.
The complaint also raises questions regarding the role of GESCOM AEE Srinivas Raju, and urges the Speaker to recommend a separate departmental inquiry into whether there was any negligence in maintaining the dignity of the office and following official procedures, and to take appropriate disciplinary action if necessary.
The Bhim Army Devadurga Taluk Committee, represented by its president Vishwanath Ballidav, has urged that the matter be taken seriously and that an impartial inquiry be conducted to safeguard the dignity of the administrative system and proper protocol in public offices.
