A blast at a firecracker warehouse in Badli, Nagaur exposed administrative negligence, with the district collector acknowledging that while the licence was renewed since 1988, the site had never been physically inspected. An inquiry into the officials involved has been ordered.
A firecracker warehouse in the Badli area of Nagaur district exploded, causing significant damage and raising concerns about safety protocols in the region. The blast highlighted gaps in oversight of hazardous material storage, prompting immediate attention from local authorities.
District Collector S. K. Sharma publicly admitted that although the warehouse's licence had been renewed continuously since 1988, no physical inspection of the premises had ever been carried out. He described the oversight as a procedural lapse and expressed regret over the failure to verify compliance on the ground.
In response, the state administration announced a formal inquiry to examine the roles of the officials responsible for granting and monitoring the licence. The investigation will assess whether procedural norms were breached and recommend corrective actions to prevent similar incidents in the future.
