The Tibetan Review reports that Chinese forces have advanced into the contested region of Arunachal Pradesh even as they reduce troop levels along the Tibet border.

New Delhi’s defence analysts note that, according to the Tibetan Review, Chinese military units have entered the disputed stretch of Arunachal Pradesh that both India and China claim as their own. The move comes at a time when Beijing is reportedly scaling down its deployments along the Tibet frontier, a development that had been interpreted as a de‑escalation gesture.

The advance into Arunachal Pradesh, however, raises concerns in New Delhi about a possible shift in China’s strategic posture along the India‑China border. Officials have not disclosed the exact locations or the scale of the incursion, but the allegation underscores the fragile nature of the long‑standing border dispute.

India’s Ministry of Defence is expected to review the situation and may seek diplomatic engagement to address the alleged breach. The incident adds another layer of complexity to the already tense relations between the two nuclear powers, which have previously clashed in the same region.

The Tibetan Review, a publication focusing on Himalayan affairs, highlighted the paradox of China’s troop reduction on one front while allegedly pressing forward on another, suggesting a nuanced approach to its border strategy.
