The state's four sugar mills will distribute a Diwali bonus of Rs 51 crore to more than 31,000 sugarcane growers. The move is intended to provide financial relief to farmers ahead of the festival.

Chhattisgarh’s government‑run sugar mills have approved a special Diwali package for the state’s sugarcane farmers. Four mills operating across the state will together disburse Rs 51 crore as a bonus.

According to officials, the amount will be shared among over 31,000 growers who supplied cane to these mills during the recent crushing season. The payment is being described as a festive gift from the state to the agricultural community.

The bonus is expected to help farmers meet household expenses and invest in the upcoming agricultural cycle. Industry observers say such timely support can improve farmer morale and encourage timely cane supply.

State authorities have reiterated their commitment to farmer welfare, noting that the initiative aligns with broader efforts to strengthen the sugar sector and ensure remunerative returns for cultivators.
